In 2007, the Centre d’études sur les médias undertook a research program with the goal of gaining a better understanding of Quebecers’ news habits and learning how they are changing over time. We conducted our first survey with a representative sample of Francophone Quebecers early in 2007 and a second survey two years later. To learn more about the factors likely to shape behaviour over time we also met individually with a number of the participants who took part in our quantitative surveys and tried to determine what motivates them when they choose and use the media, especially the Internet and the so-called new communication technologies. This publication presents the findings of all the work we have done since 2007. It has been done with the collaboration of the Canadian Media Research Consortium.
